what's on the needles

I'm currently knitting a sweater from the lovely book Poetry in Stitches, by Solveig Hisdal. In a complete surprise move for me I'm actually using both the recommended yarn and the suggested colors. I think this may be a first for me, but I really appreciate Solveig's color selections, and there was a good deal on the yarn kit when I ordered it from Sommerfuglen with the currency exchange (at the time I got it four years ago— shouldn't some yarn be aged a bit in the stash before you use it?).

Here is the photo from the book, just to show where I'm hoping to end up. So far it's a pretty enteraining knit, with enough going on to keep me interested, but not to complicated to knit during movie watching. I'm about 3/4 of the way up the body and thinking about some different steeking options for the neck and sleeves. The book wants me to cast off at the neckline and knit back and forth, but I'm not into that. I'm thinking neck steeks with crochet. Any ideas out there?

new blog!

Welcome to yarn bee, a place where the knitting needles roam free and the coffee is plentiful. Like so many other wonderful knitting blogs, I'm hoping to provide a bit of encouragement for others by sharing things I make as well as things I find. Come back and visit any time.
